Our premium wood pellets are manufactured at Dansons new state-of-the-art pellet plant, one of the largest in the industry. The pellets are made from pure white spruce and pine fiber. The fiber is formed into pellets using moisture and pressure, without additives.

1. Dried sawdust delivered to the plant from our sawmill.
2. The hammer mill prepares the sawdust for the pellet machine, creating fibers of uniform size.
3. The fiber is moistened with steam and rolled in the pellet machine through holes in a die, which form the pellets.
4. The pellets are cooled and double-screened to remove fines.
5. A final vacuuming removes any loose dust.
6. The product is then packaged in heat-sealed 40 lb./18 kg bags.
   

Choosing the right pellets

Dansons wood pellet stoves & shop heaters come with standard, Sta-clean or Super grates. The standard grate is designed to burn premium or standard quality wood pellets. The Sta-clean and Super grates are designed to burn lower quality pellets. Low-quality pellets are soft, contain loose sawdust, and may be wet. They will reduce the stove's heat output and efficiency.

Why our pellet packaging is the best

The packaging for our wood pellet fuel is unsurpassed in the industry. Pellets are heat-sealed in UV-protected, 3.5 mil, 40 lb./18 kg bags. Pallets of 60 bags are protected from damage by three coverings. First the pallets are packaged in an 8 in./cm-high cardboard tray, then stretch-wrapped twice in 4-mil plastic.

The Dansons pellet plant is part of a large sawmill operation in Alberta. Every day the sawmill produces hundreds of tons of residual white softwood fiber. The fiber is delivered on an ongoing basis to the pellet plant.

Because Dansons controls the fiber supply as well as pellet production, we can confidently offer a secure, long-term supply of quality wood pellets.
